Modern American Defintions - Stadium

Stadiums – In Roman times, the oligarch paid for and built the stadium as well as provided free entertainment to the unwashed masses.

In modern American times, the unwashed masses are taxed to pay for the building of a stadium with private corporate boxes. And the unwashed masses also pay for the entertainment. And pay and pay and pay.

Port Authority Corruption Spreads Into Politics Like a Cancer - New Jersey and New York

It becomes apparent how Chris Christie's Vendettas are possible with a powerful arm of the Corruption of the Port Authority of New Jersey and New York. The PA has an annual budget greater than that of 26 states.

That $13 bridge tolls on the GW Bridge or the Verrazano pays for $4 billion World Trade Center Tower One that was used to celebrate the promotion of Cardianl Dolan by being lit up red when the Empire State Building refused to spend the money on the celebration of a religious leader.

That if you look at Christie and Cuomo as Catholic Princes, the money spent, wasted in the billions is spread around like in a rich private men's club, not unlike a bunch of Cardinals Princes above the laws of America.

Lower the bridge tolls. These bridges were paid for decades ago.

Why is the Port Authority a real estate promoter spending, spending, spending taxpayer's hard earned money?

Memories of North Catholic Philly - circa 1962 and 1933

I am reminded of older stories about North Catholic in Philly from my Dad who was a graduate in 1934. There were many changes to the buildings between the time I arrived there in 1966 or my brother in ’62.

It is remarkable that North no longer exists and St Joan of Arc Church just closed in June.

The one thing the newer North had was the building annex that was built in the early sixties. Cannot nail down a date of its dedication but I remember being there on a Sunday afternoon and standing in the lobby with my father waiting to go into the auditorium to take a seat.

The door opened into the Principal’s waiting room outside his office and there in scarlet was Archbishop Krol standing there talking with Mayor James H. J. Tate.  The door closed and we went to get a seat.

The new building had a great expanse of a new cafeteria on the ground floor. The first, second and third floors above did not sit level with the floors of the older original school building dated to the late 1920s. So connecting stairways between the two buildings was a series of half flights and landings.

There were built in lockers in along the floors in the new building.  There was an overflow of lockers for students in the older building as you would walk by a passageway past the restroom and a room filled with janitors that were actively collecting trash from the daily four periods of lunch in the new cafeteria.

Am not certain but I think there was a furnace in that room with the janitors and they burned the trash but I am not totally certain.

The overflow locker room in the basement of the older building had been the cafeteria in the original school according to my father.  I think he brown bagged it in the Depression but managed to scrape together a nickel for a bowl of navy bean soup and a buttered roll which was his favorite and served on one particular day a week as the daily special.

His main memory was that of being in his homeroom and even in the hot last days of summer in September or the hot days in late May or early June, the windows of the room would remain closed because of the smell and all the flies that were generated by the horse stables across the street at Harbison’s Dairy for the delivery of milk via milk wagons in the 30s.

He related the story of his older cousin, my godfather, having broken down in front of the school in his junker Model T Ford and then spending all day taking the engine apart before being able to get the car going in late afternoon. And that as the car departed, there were a few odd bolts and gaskets in the street and the Model T was still road worthy. Don’t make cars like that anymore.

My Dad was able to keep progress all day on his cousin because in those days, your homeroom was where you sat all day. The teachers actually changed classes and not the students.  The same basic education for everybody since the homeroom was arranged alphabetically in the “M”s in his case and this particular class had most of the Micks “Mc”s in it.

With a last name in alphabetical going M-c-S, he was seated last seat of the last row and next to the window.

Which leads to the story of the last class of the day, and the guy ahead of him in the seat in front of him.  That guy had the cardboard lid of an ice cream cup consumed at lunch.

Apparently the round disks were objects to throw like a mini Frisbees and quite the fashion to aim such flying lids at cars from the height of the local Elevated station down the street for commuting students.

Well anyway, the story goes something like the guy with the ice cream lid had sent it into flight in a classroom where the next teacher had not arrived yet for class. The lid hit the next teacher just as that teacher turned the corner of the door and hit him squarely in the face.

Teacher said “Who threw that?”. No answer.

The teacher then conducted class, and then as it was the last class of the day the teacher after class went to every desk and holding the cardboard disk and asking each student seat by seat, aisle by aisle, asked every student if he threw the disk. As they denied the act of throwing it, they were allowed to leave.

Last aisle and the guy in front of my Dad looks the priest in the eye and denied throwing the ice cream lid. The guy left. At that and because my Dad was last man on the totem pole and his shock of the bold faced lie of the guy in front of him, my Dad said that he burst into laughter in comic relief of the irony of the situation.

The priest did not ask him if he threw it. He instead got a week’s detention.

That was North Catholic.

Russian Orthodox Church to be Banned in Russia Sought by Young People’s League

Pussy Riot Rioters

The Young People’s League for the Abolition of Oligarchs are using the window of opportunity of the Winter Olympics and the presence of a Western Free Press in Russia to declare their intent to petition the Russian Parliament to Recriminalize the Russian Orthodox Church for its archaic superstitious and blind sycophantic and cash support of Vladimir Putin.

The Young People’s League also traces its roots to the formerly in power Communist Party.

Citing polls which show that the majority of young people do not want the Orthodox Church to monitor and attack music such as Pussy Riot, the YPL says the Orthodox Church has no popular support except for some make believe Orthodox god and cash, cash, cash from the Oligarchs to make artificial “moral” statements about modern Russian life.

Poll numbers also show that the average Russian wants jobs, jobs, jobs, and no opiate religion, just as in the old days of the Soviet Union.

Thoughts of a Pessimist – Rust Cohle (Character) – True Detective HBO

"I think human consciousness is a tragic misstep in evolution. We became too self-aware. Nature created an aspect of nature separate from itself. We are creatures that should not exist by natural law. We are things that labor under the illusion of having a self. A secretion of sensory experience and feeling, programmed with total assurance that we are each somebody. When in fact, everybody's nobody. I think the honorable thing for our species to do is deny our programming, stop reproducing, walk hand-in-hand into extinction, one last midnight, brothers and sisters opting out of a raw deal."

Lack of Value of Women in Monotheistic Patriarchal Religions Affecting Female Numbers in Global Census Stats

The balance of nature in Britain is being unbalanced by ethnic groups, presumably from Monotheistic “ethnic” groups that have had Abortions based on gender and skyrocketing.

While the short term effects are probably small but science and “medicine” accompanying the worthlessness of females as heirs and ego place mats of inheritance is a trend that in a decade could realty fuck up the human race.

With the GOP and RC / Christian War on Women now winning that tangent of the greater culture war ploy of the oligarchs, well we are living in a different world. Something to think about.

Is this fucked up or what?

The illegal abortion of female fetuses solely to ensure that families have sons is widely practiced within some ethnic communities in Britain and has resulted in significant shortfalls in the proportion of girls, according to an investigation by The Independent.

The practice of sex-selective abortion is now so commonplace that it has affected the natural 50:50 balance of boys to girls within some immigrant groups and has led to the “disappearance” of between 1,400 and 4,700 females from the national census records of England and Wales, we can reveal.

A government investigation last year found no evidence that women living in the UK, but born abroad, were preferentially aborting girls. However, our deeper statistical analysis of data from the 2011 National Census has shown widespread discrepancies in the sex ratio of children in some immigrant families, which can only be easily explained by women choosing to abort female fetuses in the hope of becoming quickly pregnant again with a boy. The findings will reignite the debate over whether pregnant women should be legally allowed to know the sex of their babies following ultrasound scans at 13 weeks.

Some experts have argued that the baby’s sex should be withheld automatically until much later in pregnancy, when abortions are more difficult to obtain – as some NHS hospitals have already started to do.

Raleigh RC Cathedral Buys Stained Glass at Fire Sale Prices From Philadelphia Temple Closed / Tossed Aside in Inner City

Architectural Rendering - New RC Raleigh Cathedral

$50 million in Pledges for the new RC Raleigh Cathedral. Stained glass recycled out of a dead Harrowgate Kensington Church, a true city on a hill structure in its day amidst the factories of Kensington. They let the roof go for years, decades. The factories closed, the whites ran to the burbs and the ‘po folks, the feared blacks and Hispanics have moved in to compete with the majority numbers in the old Irish neighborhood.

The ultimate decline of Ascension Parish took it final hits while Cardinal Rigali mismanaged everything in sight while he slept mostly in Rome with Philly as his second or third home. AD of Philadelphia obsessed on Abortion (never mind Birth Control) since Humane Vitae instead of race relations or anything remotely Christian led in part in my opinion to a racially divided Philadelphia to this day.

Rigali still exists, unpunished,  as a house guest of the Bishop of Knoxville Tennessee, a “protégé” who is also building some sort of hundred million dollar Cathedral in the burbs where the white Catholic money is these days.

Cathedral building and pledges of millions of dollars is the new pet project of American Bishops to show financial power and laundering abilities and to move onto a RNC approved red hat appointment.

RALEIGH — The Catholic Diocese of Raleigh is still months away from breaking ground on its new cathedral off Western Boulevard, but already it has bought the windows.
Forty-two stained-glass windows are being removed from a church in Philadelphia and painstakingly restored so they can be installed in Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh. The 85-year-old windows from Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church tell the story of Jesus’ life, from the angel’s visit to Mary to the resurrection and ascension, in vivid colored glass held together by lead.
Ascension of Our Lord closed Oct. 1, one of countless once-thriving churches and synagogues in the Midwest and Northeast whose congregations have shrunk as members move to the suburbs or beyond. Their buildings are often filled with ornate windows, statues, carved woodwork and other works of art that sometimes find new homes in the growing churches of the South.

Clergy Child Abuse Still Under The Radar With Pope Francis Who Throws A Bone To American Bishops and Their Obsession with Abortion and Not the Welfare of Children once Born except in Rhetoric

Clergy abuse of children is still under the radar regarding Francis's thoughts and words on a throwaway culture which has its merits as a concept.

Makes a great sound bite for the media.

But once born and not aborted, children in this world like in the church are on their own to fend for themselves against the wolves of this world.

Words do not change anything Francis.

Pope Francis on Monday called abortion "horrific" and said it was part of a new "throwaway culture" he said wasted human life as easily as it wasted food — his strongest words yet on a practice that is a divisive political issue in the United States.
Until now, Francis has appeared to have stayed away from strong statements on the church's stands on moral behavior of individuals, preferring to focus on more positive messages about the teachings of Jesus Christ and the need to see to the poor.
His comments during the start of his papacy that the church need not "obsess" about abortion and gay marriage bothered conservative Catholics who see the issues as ones that the church ought to object to strongly. On Monday, Francis put his own stamp on the church's long-held opposition to abortion.

"It is frightful even to think that there are children, victims of abortion, who will never see the light of day," Francis said in what has become a traditional annual address to the Vatican diplomatic corps.

Christ Christie Stronger Than The Feds – Christie Family Sandy Tourist Commercial $2Million Extra Use of Relief Money

Funds used to film Sandy Jersey Tourist Commercial may have been padded to feature the first family of New Jersey. Feds investigating.

Pallone wrote that he was concerned about the bidding process for the firm awarded the marketing plan; the winning firm is charging the state about $2 million more than the next lowest bidder. The winning $4.7 million bid featured Christie and his family in the advertisements while the losing $2.5 million proposal did not feature the Christies.

On Sunday, Pallone told CNN that the inspector general conducted a preliminary review of the spending and concluded that there was enough evidence to launch a full-scale investigation into the state's use of federal funds. The audit will take several months, and the findings will be issued in an official report, he said.

Pallone, a 27-year veteran of the House and vocal Christie critic, said this is not about politics.

Pope Francis Appoints 19 New Cardinals - Snubs United States - National Review Puts GOP Spin on Francis' Appointments

Francis is starting to make a mark on his Papacy. His appointment of 16 voting eligible out of 19 newly appointed Cardinals makes a mark indirectly on his successor. The greedy power hungry United States Archbishops got a snub on this round of appointments.

The Archbishop of Westminster in London got his red hat as an English Speaking cardinal. Archbishop of Westminster Nichols defended clergy in the recent child abuse scandals in Ireland. A poor but probably political appointment.

National Review Online puts its GOP spin on the Francis snub to US appointments. Snub? Or just a message to the RNC?

There are zero new cardinals from the United States – probably an indication that the pope thinks the U.S. is already overrepresented in the college. (Brazil, with130 million Catholics, has five voting-age cardinals. The U.S., with 78 millionCatholics, has eleven.) Many will be surprised that the archbishop of Los Angeles, José Gómez, wasn’t on the list; that appointment would have given a shot in the arm to California Catholics after the scandal-plagued tenure of Roger Cardinal Mahony.

But the pope’s decision was actually a conservative one, based on a longstanding Vatican tradition: When an archdiocese’s previous cardinal is still under 80 and thus eligible to vote in a conclave, his successor is not elevated to the cardinalate. (Pope Benedict XVI broke with this precedent to appoint Boston’s Seán Patrick O’Malley to the cardinalate in 2006, even though his predecessor, Bernard Cardinal Law, was still under 80. But Francis has decided to go back to standard Vatican practice, on this if not on other things.)

They are the following:

16 Voting Cardinals:

1 – Abp. Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State.
2 – Abp. Lorenzo Baldisseri, Secretary of the Synod of Bishops.
3 – Abp. Gerhard Ludwig M
űller, Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
4 – Abp. Beniamino Stella, Prefect of the Congregation for the Clergy
5 – Abp. Vincent Gerard Nichols, Westminster (England and Wales).
6 – Abp. Leopoldo José Brenes Solórzano, Managua (Nicaragua).
7 – Abp. Gérald Cyprien Lacroix, Québec (Canada).
8 – Abp. Jean-Pierre Kutwa, Abidjan (Côte d'Ivoire).
9 – Abp. Orani João Tempesta, O.Cist., Rio de Janeiro (Brazil).
10 – Abp. Gualtiero Bassetti, Perugia-Città della Pieve (Italy).
11 – Abp. Mario Aurelio Poli, Buenos Aires (Argentina).
12 – Abp. Andrew Yeom Soo-jung, Seoul (Korea).
13 – Abp. Ricardo Ezzati Andrello, S.D.B., Santiago de Chile.
14 – Abp. Philippe Nakellentuba Ouédraogo, Ouagadougou (Burkina
Faso).
15 – Abp. Orlando B. Quevedo, O.M.I., Cotabato (Philippines).
16 – Bp. Chibly Langlois, Les Cayes (Haiti).

Cardinals over 80:

1 – Abp. Loris Francesco Capovilla, Titular of Mesembria (former secretary to John XXII).
2 – Abp. Fernando Sebastián Aguilar, C.M.F., Emeritus of Pamplona (Spain).
3 – Abp. Kelvin Edward Felix, Emeritus of Castries (St. Lucia).

Hate Is A Commodity Of Morons - George Washington Bridge, A Symbol Of American Freedoms

George Washington Bridge NJ/NY Symbol of American Freedoms

I am not a regular viewer of NCR, National Catholic Reporter, a site independent somewhat of direct Catholic control, a so-called centrist POV but one that tows the party line in most instances. I do hear of articles through blogs that I view.

There was some fuss last week over an article over the death of priest in the past who had tried to minister to the LGBT community over the decades.

It was apparently comments on that article that caused NCR to shut down its comments app because of all the gay hate comments masked in anonymous named trolls.

The priest, a maverick in the AD of Philadelphia, Father Robert Nugent, was remembered in this recent article.

Well worth a read above.

But the real point to me is how the hate and threats and force of the Right is what we all have to fear especially when it shuts down civil discourse and true balanced free speech.

In many ways, the bully ways of the right, whether in shutting down traffic on the George Washington Bridge for vendetta or trolling hate of fellow humanity, Gays, is something we have all reason to be afraid of where all this anger and hate will lead this country to.

We ordered our Web editor to suspend the commenting feature and to hide all previously posted comments because of the malicious, abusive nature of the comments that have bombarded our site in recent days.
Comments will be suspended indefinitely. NCR editors will explore options that will allow commenting to return in a way that respects our writers, the subjects of our stories, and our readers. ,,,

Unfortunately, we have reached a point where the good that an open discussion can do is being outpaced by the damage it can cause when commenters do not respect civil discourse.

Comments that have appeared on the website in recent days have been vile and demeaning. We could no longer support hosting a Web feature that allows such despicable comments to appear, and that is why we ordered the suspension of that feature.

We apologize to anyone who was offended by these appalling comments.

Last Prophet Tom Monson Considers End of Mormon Church While Reading Mark Hofmann’s Forged “Two Spade” Prophecy Letter

Rumors and or memes now reaching me how Mormon Prophet Thomas Monson is haunting the vault where the LDS church houses some of it sacred archives which in fact also house the so-called “Hofmann Archive”.

That the incompetence of Mormon cronies in the Utah State’s Attorney General’s office was the root of the recent week of legal Same Sex Marriage in Utah, now on hold per the Catholic U.S. Supreme Court. Monson is said not to have slept since the end of December.

An unknown document at one point attributed as a forgery by Mark Hofmann in the 80’s is being called into question.

Sources also say that Hoffman is now denying having forged this particular document.

The document, the so-called “Two Spade” prophecy letter is a so-called eyewitness account of a vision or prophecy of Joseph Smith in a trance describing the end of his church when marriage becomes similar to symbols of “two spades” as opposed to marriage as a vision of  “spade” and “butter churn(s)”.

That after the end of the Mormon church would see Mormons hiding in caves and cellars and eating “a bitter broth of dried roots”, (Prepper’s dehydrated soup mix?).

Cardinal Dolan’s Friends – Rich Catholics Against the Pope and the Poor – A Total Human(?) Pig Kenneth Langone

This guy Ken Langone sounds like a lunatic minus one straight jacket in his defense of the sharks, the rich and his total disregard and hatred for the poor.

The quote below defending his crony friend Grasso and his $190 million severance package from the NY Stock Exchange. No Insider Trader there. Yeah right.
Anything but repentant following the revelation and repudiation of the Grasso deal by NYSE executives, Langone told Forbes magazine in 2004: “They got the wrong f—ing guy. I’m nuts, I’m rich, and, boy, do I love a fight. I’m going to make them s— in their pants. When I get through with these f—ing captains of industry, they’re going to wish they were in a Cuisinart — at high speed.”

While Langone passionately defended the outlandish grasping of the super-rich like his friend Grasso, however, he has displayed far less indulgence toward workers, especially those struggling to support their families on poverty wages. Until just last year, he was a director of Yum! Brands, the global fast food conglomerate that includes Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken among its holdings — and that spends millions annually to hold down the minimum wage and prevent unionization of its ill-paid employees and farmworkers.

Charlie Chaput Gleefully Funds $250,000 Bail For His Favorite Child Endangerment Monsignor Bill Lynn

Philadelphia Archbishop Charles Chaput said in a letter to clergy and parishioners today that helping Lynn come up with $25,000 to post 10 percent of his bail was "both reasonable and just." He said Lynn remains on administrative leave and may not function in public as a priest.

Chaput described the appeals court decision as a matter of legal substance rather than technicalities.

Lynn "presents no danger to anyone," the archbishop wrote. "He poses no flight risk. The funding for his bail has been taken from no parish, school or ministry resources, impacts no ongoing work of the church and will be returned when the terms of bail are completed. Nor does it diminish in any way our determination to root out the possibility of sexual abuse from the life of our local church."

David Clohessy, director of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, said Chaput has refused to "take harsh, clear disciplinary measures against those who hurt or let others hurt kids."

Pope Francis Will Not Kiss Home Depot’s Ken Langone’s Greedy Rich Ass

There are those grubby little nouveau rich paper billionaire types writing checks for tax purposes charity and wanting everybody to bow down and kiss their ass worship their gold plated tin godness.
Pope Francis’s words of concern for the poor of the world seems to scare the shit out of the Ken Langones of this world who in his case is threatening to withhold money from Boss Dolan and his latest boondoggle of $180 million repairs to St. Patrick’s Cathedral on Fifth Ave.. (Aside: For that kind of money tear it down and build a new one. Otherwise it and the so called charity surrounding it looks a lot like a money laundering operation to Moi.)
Or Timmy, tell Frank to shut TFU. Cause Ken don't do humility.
[Home Depot founder Ken] Langone said he's raised the issue more than once with Cardinal Timothy Dolan, archbishop of New York, most recently at a breakfast in early December at which he updated him on fundraising progress."I've told the cardinal, 'Your Eminence, this is one more hurdle I hope we don't have to deal with. You want to be careful about generalities. Rich people in one country don't act the same as rich people in another country,' " he said.

One of the things that makes this story so jaw-dropping is the presumption -- on the part of Langone, and as ever on the part of CNBC -- that those who see or read it will sympathize with the petulant wealthy. Do you really want to make things harder for people who are so much wealthier and more successful than you? CNBC constantly asks its viewers. Do you think we can afford to let them get upset?

I do feel for Cardinal Dolan, caught between the demands of fundraising in a wealthy city and the clear teaching of a very popular pope. I wouldn't want to be explaining Evangelii Gaudiumto any prospective donors over breakfast. Still, I'd like to think that, if pressed, I could do a little bit better than "The pope loves poor people. He also loves rich people. He loves people, alright? He's not into the condemning game."
