Pennsylvania Political Whores Corbett Nutter and Chaput Off to Rome to Woo Pope Francis for Expensive TaxPayer All-Expense Paid Visit to Philly in 2015 – Tuppence to the Poor

I know that whenever a major dignitary, head of state, comes to New York for a major state visit, the price tag to the taxpayers is usually in the tens of millions of dollars. The Fed usually kicks in some funds under the table because New York is host city to the United Nations.

And the price tag for such events goes up all the time. Benedict’s Trip to Madrid Spain in 2011 cost an estimated 72 million dollars that cash strapped Spain forked out for a Catholic event in a “Catholic” country.

I know that Francis is popular at the moment and all that, meaning he does not seem to be half the prick that Benedict is and or John Paul was in real life but get a life Catholics.

Governor Corbett who cuts back on school aid, food stamps and everything else non-white-surburban middle class wants to drum up a visit of Francis to a Catholic Family Conference in Philly in 2015.

Benedict had already promised and hey it will bring an estimated 100 million dollars into the local economy but it will probably cost 100 million in overtime for police, added security, barriers, patrols, electronic scanning devices etc.

The Catholic Governor who protected the Sandusky child abuse set up at Penn State for years as Attorney General says that they are not going to use tax payers money to fund costs of this Pape Fest. Yeah right. 

Pennsylvania taxpayers are about to get screwed for a Catholic Party on the Parkway in Philly.

Off to Rome with Governor Corbett, Mayor Nutter and Charles Chaput in search of his red hat, kissing up to the pope and hoping for a Catholic party at taxpayers’ expense for the cash strapped Philadelphia Archdiocese that must close parish after parish to make up to the devil may care spending like a Drunken Sailor in Rome outside a male brothel of the, of late, not so great Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia/Rome, retired now to a palace in Knoxville Tennessee.

The last Holy See to visit Philadelphia was Pope John Paul II in 1979. His outdoor mass along Benjamin Franklin Parkway drew more than 1 million.

 If Francis were to come to Philadelphia, it would be his first trip in to North America, Corbett said. The city's large media market and geographic location, halfway between New York city and Washington, D.C., makes it the perfect designation for Francis to make the cross-Atlantic trip, the governor said.

 In June 2012, when Benedict named Philadelphia as the host site for the family gathering, Chaput admitted he was nervous. The archdiocese was going through a tough period, he said, alluding to the prosecution of Monsignor William Lynn, whose conviction on child endangerment charges related to covering up sexual assaults of children recently was overturned. In January, Lynn was freed on bail pending an appeal.

 But Chaput said his confidence grew after the region's and state's business and religious communities reached out to him to offer assistance. Catholic, Protestant and Jewish leaders have come together to join the host committee, chaired by Nutter, a Democrat ,and Corbett, a Republican, Chaput said.

 "It's a miracle," he said.

 The committee has raised $5 million so far, Chaput said. More is needed to help offset the cost of the event and give a donation to the poor.

Five months later, in September 2005, Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham released the first of two clerical sexual abuse grand jury reports that accused 63 priests of sexually abusing children in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia over four decades. At the time, Farrell’s boss was former Marple resident Bishop Michael Burbidge, who now heads the Raleigh, N.C. diocese. 

“I said to Bishop Burbidge, ‘So what do you have planned for my second year on the job?’” recalled Farrell. 

Six years later, she and her staff had to handle press inquiries about a second Philadelphia grand jury report released by Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams that resulted in the arrest of a lay teacher and three priests for allegedly abusing children, and the suspension of more than 20 other priests. 

One priest pleaded guilty, another priest and the lay teacher were convicted in a jury trial and a third priest is awaiting retrial after his first trial resulted in a hung jury. The 2011 grand jury report also resulted in the arrest and conviction of former secretary of clergy the Rev. Monsignor William Lynn for child endangerment for not turning a suspected pedophile priest over to civil authorities, making him the highest-ranking church official in the United States to be convicted in such a case. 

“Several of the bishops said to me, they would say, ‘I hope you’re taking care of your own spiritual life,’”(*) noted Farrell. “There are always people who commit sins and make mistakes and do horrible things. I separate them from my faith.”

I really think the award was given when Chaput’s Denver people took over 222 and forced the old timers like Farrell out. Whatever.

Bishop McFadden of Harrisburg Drops Dead – His Legacy in Philadelphia Child Abuse Glory Hole Days Played Down in Eulogy – Liked Basketball – No Mention of Children

Bishop McFadden of Harrisburg dropped dead on May 2 at a Pennsylvania Bishop’s Convention / Conference.

They brought in the green temporary bishop of Allentown John Oliver Barres to give a flowery eulogy to a monster that appears to have been there when as personal secretary to Cardinal Krol, cases of child abuse in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia got filed away rather than be addressed.

Krol with his Polish friend in the Vatican that owed his papacy to king maker Krol would cover up for him same as for Marcial Maciel. What are friends for if not to help cover up corporate mismanagement and or downright evil?

Bishop McFadden as monsignor preceded Monsignor Bill Lynn as pastor of St. Joseph’s “Rich Bastards” parish in Downingtown, Pa.

Bishop McFadden as auxiliary bishop of Philadelphia was also instrumental in the closing of the two best High Schools in the racially mixed city, Northeast Catholic and Cardinal Dougherty in Philadelphia owing to the changing minority demographics within the city limits. His vision of the burbs only for new RC high schools in Philly I also think belongs to McFadden as part of his legacy.

Cardinal Rigali States Requirements of a Good Pope – Pot Calling Kettle Black?

Cardinal Regali is not under the rule of Archbishop Chaput the same way Cardinal Mahony in under the fat thumb of Archbishop Gomez in Los Angeles and being criticized for past performances. 

Mahony is being pulled through the mud in the Italian Press regarding his dirty bloody hands voting for a new Pope.
 

No such media mucking about for fellow retired reprobate Rigali. Both Mohony and Rigali are under 80 and as Cardinals are still eligible to vote.

No doubt Opus Dei wants to influence Mahony’s vote since OD Archbishop Gomez had not yet gotten his red hat.

Rigali will no doubt be selling his vote for a promotion for his portege Ambrose St. John Richard Stika to get out a shithole assignment of Knoxville Tennessee. 

Young Richard has yet to spend the money, build a new Bishop’s palace for his old boss now that he smells promotion in the air. Maybe even Chicago at this point. Anything is possible in papal elections.

The American Media is eating up the Cardinal Emeritus of Philadelphia’s fatherly advice on picking a new pope.  It is good to have your old protégé give you protection from mean old Charlie Chaput in the form of Bishop Stika of Knoxville Tennessee still planning and trying to fund a new Bishop’s palace for his old Philly crime boss Justin “Big Frank” Rigali (retired – yeah right).

Cathedral Grounds in Philadelphia Haunted? – Built on Ancient Potter’s Field and Execution Site

I can remember in the seventh grade going downtown after school with some classmates to pick up some boxes of plastic icons of the Virgin Mary down at the Archdiocesan offices behind the Cathedral of Sts. Peter and Paul in Philadelphia and returning uptown to make delivery to the local convent of these items before returning home. 

I can remember those buildings, townhouses behind the Cathedral that had many various departments crammed and housed in Victorian building space.

I can remember when they tore those buildings down and in a weekend or was it a week it seemed, they put the prefabricated tinker toy like steel girders snapped into place of the “Archdiocesan Office Building” out of some kit do doubt sent from overseas. 

Then the prefab sheathing of windows and faux stone filler went up. The resulting 13 story office building would provide plenty of office space for decades to come in this new Chancery.

No doubt with Cardinal Krol’s campaign for the papacy and Cardinal Bevilacqua's grand child abuse cover up schemes with future bishops Cistone and Cullen and Rigali's follow up with want a be bishop Msgr. Bill Lynn one must take one’s breath, think of Cardinal Rigali’s using the address as a mere mail drop for his real full time digs in Rome next to the Swiss Guard’s Barracks (wink, nod), one might give pause to the thought how isolated and lonely it is at the top of the Philadelphia Catholic Hierarchy in the 13^th floor penthouse suite of the Archbishop’s office.

In that corner office overlooking the copper dome of Sts. Peter and Paul’s, the Parisian style grand public buildings of Logan Square and the magnificent Greek style temple of the Philadelphia Museum of Art beyond, one might wonder if one was at least on the slopes of Parnassus is not on mighty Mt. Olympus itself. 

Indeed even the five star Four Seasons Hotel could only be built here on Logan Circle as the premiere gateway to the cultural heart of the city.

Of course it was not always like this. There was a time when the Cathedral was first planned for and built, Logan Square was quite isolated and not a desirable or fashionable part of the W.A.S.P. culture city further to the east. Logan Square was the ideal out of the way place to build a Papist temple without upsetting the Protestant elites of Philadelphia.

That and Logan Square was the potters field, one of several in the city and adjacent to the gallows once there. That like all things official and or unofficial in the past, the potter’s field, a burial place for the poor, the low lifes, prostitutes, criminals and executed prisoners, the boundaries of a designated city square haphazardly overflowed its boundaries onto the future cathedral site. 

The nearby legitimate Quaker burial grounds would also have had an overflow of graves for the poor who brought their dead and those in the middle of the night that just dumped dead bodies in the general vicinity of the whole general area of death.

That the present chancery of 222 N. 17^th Street might have been part of a stockade off Logan Square to house the convicted about to die on the gallows as a staging area to send them off to their fates and a place to hold or store executed bodies after until a means of burying them could be organized or arranged.

Sounds a bit odd but I am reminded of the scene in the movie The Sixth Sense where the psychic child who can supposedly talk to and see the dead sees a place of execution that history does not record but the child witnesses the dead dangling from the gallows that held even children, those whose only crime might have been the capital crime of stealing bread to survive back then in the past.

So it is rumored that before they built the present day fashionable bits of upscale downtown Philadelphia, in the past, the dark past, the underside function of a city dealing with death used to be practiced and had a place here and around Logan Square (now Logan Circle).

It is little wonder that some say the building at 222 N. 17^th Street, the Chancery is haunted with death and evil from the past and passing all the way, reinforced, to the present day there.

RC Cheyenne WY Bishop’s Franchise – How Much is the Buy-in? - Follow the Money

I fear the money laundering scheme set up by the God Emperor General Wojtyla aka JPII is still up and running and still collecting cash to defeat the Soviet hegemony in Eastern Europe.

Of course the cold war is over and there is no need to launder cash but hey, once set in motion, an object tends to continue in motion. (“The evil that men do lives after them.”)

I would wonder looking at how poor boys like Bishop Etienne of Cheyenne, who obviously approves of the local Knights of Columbus raffle for guns scam, what his cut of the action is?

That no doubt the check for $54,000 raised from the Gun Raffle for the old priest’s home above in 2011, it must be deposited in the Vatican Bank that handles all charities and funds for all religious orders, even charties run by local dioceses. 

It is a way of monitoring funds held by religious orders and dioceses. It is also a two edged sword whereby funds deposited there can then be drawn down from a legitimate banking source such as the Vatican Bank. 

One has to wonder if a legitimate audit trail of funds existed to be examined, how a check for $54,000 from gun sales/charity gets deposited first in a K of C account for the Cheyenne Diocese or some other account in Rome under Cheyenne’s name.

One has to wonder if some accounting error might occur and somehow a zero gets added and $540,000 gets deposited in Rome, then $540,000 would have an audit tag of the Vatican Bank under the heading of Charity. 

One might also wonder if the checks drawn on $540,000 goes out on the check heading of Diocese of Cheyenne or Local council whatever of the K of C or the Heritage Foundation etc. ? 

One would have to wonder too the source of the accounting error might come from the mysterious cash difference of $486,000 and where the heck did that come from?????  

All just a money laundering theoretical scenario.

Having worked in the back office of legitimate, well regulated, regularly audited banks in my life, if it seems too good to be true, it usually is not. Beware.

But getting back to a poor boy like Bishop Etienne and the promissory note of sorts he had to in theory sign to get promoted from parish priest in Indianapolis to Bishop of Cheyenne. In other words look the other way and or sign off on all diocese deposits held in the Vatican Bank? For the greater good of Holy Mother Church and more importantly future promotions?

Whatever.

There also seems to be emerging from my POV a certain ratline, of musical chairs of certain dioceses (no money down franchises?) in the United State where poor boys from the heartland can rise all the way to red hat in a matter of years through these farmland sci-fi vortexes. Cash and not spirituality count in the new global spreadsheet reality. So true.

Also, the call for religious freedom from the church ladies of the RC church in America want to protect universities, hospitals and charities from Obama’s godless call to contraception. Again whatever.

Speaking of abused Charities, I am reminded of Bishop Zubik of Pittsburgh coming from Green Bay to make way for Bishop Ricken to move out and make room in Cheyenne for Father Bishop Etienne.

Matthew Never Threshed Wheat – The Urban Gospels – “Chaff Farmers” – Cookie Cutter RC Bishops

I look at all the Chaff Farmers, American Bishops raised in farmland and the Midwest that now seem to dominate the once great RC dioceses on the East and West Coast of America.  

These Chaff Farmer/Clerics, had very few choices handed to them in their youth, their only meal ticket choice in Fly Over Country and or Nowhere USA was to either stay on the farm or to go to a seminary.

I am reminded by a comment elsewhere about all the really Chaff Farmers (my term) coming out of, or by their association with states like Wisconsin and Missouri.

I am reminded of my belief that the original gospels were probably not written by actual witnesses of the historic man and or myth of Jesus.

I am reminded that Jesus probably preached to the rural poor, to farmers, to itinerate day labor of farms, something I think Jesus did at one time or another.

I am reminded that Chaff is the part of the Wheat that is unwholesome and hard to digest and not being all that nutritious.

While the metaphor in the gospel of Matthew about God and or a Son of Man figure separating the wheat from the chaff, the unwanted part and throwing it and or they into fire is a metaphor that negates the idea that the very poor that Jesus preached to, like they had the luxury of wasting part of a food product in the day to day battle of survival.

Matthew 3:12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will clear his threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn and burning up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Even if the chaff is a byproduct, it can be mixed with other animal feed to sustain those animals. It can be put back into the soil as a form of nutrient. It can also be burned but probably on a cold winter’s night in the corner fire place. It is not wasted. 

All in all, it fits into what I have previously said about the parable of the mustard seed, a product that something the poor of Palestine knew nothing about.  That up until the twentieth century with mechanized farming, modern transportation and marketing did mustard makes its way onto the middle class tables of the west as a cheap condiment.

Indeed, I feel certain that the Jesus-y feel of the mustard seed parable has an overlaying stink of an urban scholar that knows all the aspects of primitive botany from books and also commodity profits of an earthy sounding farm product that Jesus must have had knowledge of, but probably did not.

In fact, in one of the synoptic passages, the mustard seed parable is preceded by a parable of weeds among wheat. While an urban dweller who wrote this mustard seed parable might stick his nose up at weeds, many weeds are indeed edible and the poor, the starving unentitled poor, Jesus’ poor, would have gathered up many of those weeds separated eventually from the wheat and ate them. Survival makes more sense than urban vested scholarship in the early church’s reconstruction of a holy man who few if any recorded any details about.

Not only eat the weeds, but dry the ones that were not edible and use them as fuel, not burn them up foolishly like waste in an urban middle class garden.

Which puts perhaps puts me at odds with the term Chaff Farmers. But in their case they seem to me of late a waste product interfering in politics and not understanding the delicate nature of the fabric of democracy.  

Indeed, for this modern crop of yokels, wearing thousands of dollars of silk robes they read rules out of a rulebook not unlike a Pennsylvania State Trooper on the Pennsylvania Turnpike but with less enthusiasm than the Trooper.

 

A cookie cutter class of cleric but one that are uniform in shape of their training and non-outlook in life, in their total lack of heart, since they only serve a kingdom not of this world, which might fool some unless they got to see the real balance sheet of the Vatican Bank.

God is not in a rulebook. Not 613 rules of the Torah or 613 odd pages of catechism. A richly dressed class of hypocritical Pharisees is still just a richly bunch of Pharisees in any time, place or culture.

Chaff yes. To be thrown out into fire? Useful? Hardly.

Babies as a Commodity for Cash in the Catholic Church – Videla sentenced in Babies for Crime and Profit Scheme

The aging ex-Argentine dictator gets yet another sentence of 50 years added to his imprisonment in a baby stealing ring among his cadre of military thugs.  An estimated 13,000 pregnant prisoners of Argentina’s “dirty war” disappeared.  It is now thought that those women were executed once they gave profit to a profitable commodity like a new born baby.

The baby thefts set Argentina’s 1976-1983 regime apart from all the other juntas that ruled in Latin America at the time. Videla other military and police officials were determined to remove any trace of the armed leftist guerrilla movement they said threatened the country’s future.The “dirty war” eventually claimed 13,000 victims according to official records. Many were pregnant women who were “disappeared” shortly after giving birth in clandestine maternity wards. 

Videla denied in his testimony that there was any systematic plan to remove the babies, and said prisoners used their unborn children as “human shields” in their fight against the state.

My mind is thinking how the Media, the MSM reports these facts and then sort of drops them off at a dead end street or parks them in a 1960s VW van on some cul-de-sak somewhere in the hopes that the public does not make any connections, speculations on where 13,000 babies disappeared to in the middle of a military junta regime in Argentina.


I prefer to follow timelines.  I see that the theft of children in Argentina took place within a similar timeline when Catholic Hospitals in Spain sold 300,000 babies stolen from their mothers in the 1960-1986 timeframe as quoted in the press.


The time frame in Argentina is 1976-1983 with the 13,000 number.  Did the dictator’s commanders and soldiers just post index cards on barracks bulletin boards, “Wanted: Baby for a Childless Military Family”?


Did the military ratline reach back to the remnants of Franco’s Spain to help out or was the business mechanism already in place in Argentina for the sale and placement of babies as in the Catholic Hospital System in Argentina?


Makes you wonder where Videla’s conviction the other day could lead if we had real journalists left to lead on such a story.


I am reminded of all this of late American religious liberty and religious freedom talk in this election year. It starts back earlier than the present USCCB PR campaign of “religious liberty”.  I think having to do with losing the very lucrative baby adoption process that Bishops in Illinois had to give up because of discrimination against Homosexual/Gay Couples who want to adopt children, a civil right.

Bishops Say Rules on Gay Parents Limit Freedom of Religion

In Illinois, Catholic Charities in five of the six state dioceses had grown dependent on foster care contracts, receiving 60 percent to 92 percent of their revenues from the state, according to affidavits by the charities’ directors. (Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Chicago pulled out of foster care services in 2007 because of problems with its insurance provider.)

When the contracts came up for renewal in June, the state attorney general, along with the legal staff in the governor’s office and the Department of Children and Family Services, decided that the religious providers on state contracts would no longer be able to reject same-sex couples, said Kendall Marlowe, a spokesman for the department.

The Catholic providers offered to refer same-sex couples to other agencies (as they had been doing for unmarried couples), but that was not acceptable to the state, Mr. Marlowe said. “Separate but equal was not a sufficient solution on other civil rights issues in the past either,” he said.

Catholic Charities in the Diocese of Rockford decided at that point to get out of the foster care business. But the bishops in Springfield, Peoria, Joliet and Belleville decided to fight, filing a lawsuit against the state. (NYT 12-28-11)

Of course all this present article, of making possible connections along a time line came together for me while looking up the Argentine Papal Nuncio during the Videla Regime in Argentina in the person of Cardinal Pio Laghi.

Laghi was named Nuncio to Argentina on 27 April 1974. His six years in Argentina coincided with the worst excesses of the military dictatorship in what was known as the dirty war. Many in Argentina believe that the church hierarchy supported the generals in their misrule, and that Laghi - who played tennis regularly with one of the leaders of the junta, Admiral Emilio Eduardo Massera - turned a blind eye to the murder and disappearances of thousands. "Perhaps I wasn't a hero", Laghi later said of his time in Buenos Aires, "but I was no accomplice".^{[citation needed]}The debate that his conduct generated was enough, however, to ruin any chance he ever had of becoming pope.^{[citation needed]} 

Pope John Paul II transferred him as Apostolic Delegate (10 December 1980) and later (26 March 1984) Pro-Nuncio to the United States, where he was entrusted with emplacing conservatives in key positions, such as Bernard Francis Law in Boston and John Joseph O'Connor in New York.

Pio Laghi was BTW Primary Consecrator to the level of Bishop in Rapid City South Dakota of – Charles Chaput – in his salad days out west being groomed no doubt for speeches on “religious liberty” just like the one he delivered as key note speaker in Washington DC on July 4 as culmination of the USCCB’s attack on the Department of Health and Human Services, the guys who cut the checks for “Catholic Charities”.

The Death of the Catholic Standard and Times – an anticlimactic PR Release in Philly - Jobs Lost

They are closing down the old Catholic Standard and Times in Philly.  Apparently there is a seventeen million dollar deficit in the archdiocese of Philadelphia, eleven million of which foolishly spent on the defense of monsignor Lynn and company.  The Catholic Standard and Times in Philly was where a good Catholic used to get a full dose of any Catholic story not carried or fully carried in the WASP Evening Bulletin, Daily News or Philadelphia Inquirer.

The once weekly newspaper was cut back to monthly over a year ago.  That tells you at the Catholic Brand is no longer a strong brand in Philly.  It says that the number of Catholic households that subscribe are down.  It tells you that fewer people bother to read these days.  Fewer advertisers too. That Public Relations and cash to the Catholic League for propaganda instead of Catholic news is deemed more important from on top and trickled down to the least common denominator nobody Catholic member still bothering to show up in a pew on any Sunday.

Philly Archdiocese cuts 45 jobs, closes Standard and Times

“These are good men and women who have served the Church well,” said Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M Cap. “I take this action with great reluctance, as one of several urgently needed steps to restore the local Church to a healthy financial footing. Every departing employee has the sincere gratitude of the Archdiocese and will be treated with maximum consideration.”

They have served their church well and now they can be discarded now that they are no longer needed. Typical GOP trickle down "humanity" speak. Now that Satan, the GOP, it would seem has taken over the Roman Catholic Church in America. Downsize, Outsource, Offshore Invest.

Forty odd jobs are disappearing with this ancient enterprise.  No history of its founding anywhere in Chaput’s chronically smug sounding PR pronouncement.  These pronouncements sound like they are written and rewritten and preformed verbally over and over again in front of a mirror or in front of toady subordinates that praise every sentence, word, comma, period.  One would think that archbishop Chaput has no time for sleep in his zealous discharge of his duties.  In fact, how can he sleep knowing that he is doing a slow decimation of the church of my ancestors in Philly.  Oh well.

I do remember that the Catholic Standard and Times as an institution goes back at least  to 1892 because the image of the 400^th Century Anniversary of Catholic Columbus’ discovery of America, from a stamp, was once part of the front page title header.
