Our regional hospital (which, along with the university, attracts a number of professionals to the community) was brought here largely through the intercession of a lesbian physician, who convinced the Sisters of Notre Dame to plant their mission here. Even today few would be comfortable to see it said to plainly and there is not a large Catholic community here.

I for one am a bit shocked with the speed that this cultural paradigm shift to Same Sex and or Gay Marriage has taken hold in America.

A whole generation of the young have not been raised in the prejudices and hatreds of mainstream Christianity. This is for both mainstream and some spheres of fundamentalist Christianity.

That the young have a live and let live attitude and in increased poll numbers do not see morality attached to human sexuality among consenting adults.

That all the Tens of Millions that the Mormon Church spent recruiting the Republican Party and the Roman Catholic Hierarchy to fight this mythical war, like the war on drugs etc., on privacy in the bedroom which is one of the most intimate and important in every human life - had been a wasted dime of tax free religious funding.

This backlash has come to manifest itself at the very foot of this man made religion and main Temple of Mormonism. 

Human rights cannot be dispensed with or hidden from view using the bible as some sort of ultimate authority on the rules of living.

Metcalfe circulated a memo to his colleagues Monday, letting them know he plans on introducing a resolution containing articles of impeachment against Pennsylvania's Attorney General, Kathleen Kane.

 The reason: Kane's decision over the summer not to defend the state against a federal lawsuit seeking to overturn Pennsylvania's ban on same-sex marriage. At the time, Kane said she could not defend a law that she found to be "wholly unconstitutional."

 Metcalfe argues that Kane is abandoning the duties and responsibilities of her job, which include defending the state's laws, whether she agrees with them or not. Others have echoed the criticism, but no one has gone as far as seeking to impeach her.

 "Impeachment is a rarely used, but extremely important, tool to address misbehavior in office," Metcalfe wrote in the memo. "Attorney General Kane’s violation of her constitutional, statutory, and ethical duties cannot be tolerated if our system of government is to work properly."

 A spokesman for Kane could not be immediately reached for comment.

That she and her lover, a failed, never made it, wannabe opera diva, was something in memory's retrospect, equivalent somewhat to a female version of La Cage aux Folles. LOL

Of course I was raised a good Catholic Boy and when I did meet Lois and Elana I had no direct knowledge of who or what they were or represented. I had a idea of what the situation was but they remained totally behind their masks to me a stranger even if I had a blood connection to Elana of sorts.

So much of the ignorance of Catholicism about the basic human sex product that had no source book or words for a modern world moving so quickly and or to help move a shadow world of the arts with its primary sexuality out of the closet back then.

That in retrospect, I was used as a beard on occasion by Elena and Lois in public and didn’t even know it until some years afterwards. Till I thought about it as the Gay community and its dictionary of terms and gestures became more public as they came out of their many times tortured closets into the full light of human dignity as the Creator intended it. 

Such is my slow perhaps dumb nature of things, of words not in use, in vogue or understanding even into the early 1980s.

All I wanted was some mentoring on my writing and Lois very kindly gave time to read and advise.

San Francisco, California – Rob Bell, author of the best-selling and controversial book Love Wins, which challenges the Christian teaching of Hell, came out in support of homosexual marriage on Sunday and called “narrow” Christians to repentance.

According to reports, Bell was speaking at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and delivered a message based on his new book What We Talk About When We Talk About God.

During the question and answer period, Bell was asked about his beliefs regarding same-sex “marriage.”

“I am for marriage. I am for fidelity. I am for love, whether it’s a man and woman, a woman and a woman, a man and a man,” he said. “I think the ship has sailed and I think the church needs — I think this is the world we are living in and we need to affirm people wherever they are.”

  

Bell opined that many evangelicals can no longer be classified as conservatives because their beliefs have changed with the times.

“I think we are witnessing the death of a particular subculture that doesn’t work,” he asserted. “I think there is a very narrow, politically intertwined, culturally ghettoized, evangelical subculture that was told ‘we’re gonna change the thing’ and they haven’t. And they actually have turned away lots of people.”

“And I think that when you’re in a part of a subculture that is dying, you make a lot more noise because it’s very painful. You sort of die or you adapt,” Bell continued.

“And if you adapt, it means you have to come face to face with some of the ways we’ve talked about God, which don’t actually shape people into more loving, compassionate people. And we have supported policies and ways of viewing the world that are actually destructive. And we’ve done it in the name of God and we need to repent.”

The law which passed is on the road to adjustments, tweaking, and a final vote in the House of Lords exempts religious groups, gives them the right to abstain from being forced by law to administer the marriage ceremony for the state.

In BRITAIN it was the conservatives that pushed for marriage equality for some strange reason. I do, as an aside, wonder if there is a some new world order committee that tells the guy in charge in every country – “this is how it goes Jack and or Dave and or Barry etc…” (aside over)

Well the period in which the organized resistance to marriage equality was a lot like their prep time for elections like for only a few weeks. So the opposition and not necessarily the political right only had days and weeks to organize opposition letter writing, blog explaining campaign against the human rights thing of marriage equality.

Now that Cameron has betrayed his upfront promise for his government not to get involved in marriage equality, the religious right is seething in anger and looking for scapegoats etc. for their defeat in Parliament.

All well and good the way they do things in Britannia. Since that recent vote in Parliament, I have not found one single right wing Brit religious blog that has not quoted half of Cardinal George of Chicago’s so called “Call to Martyrdom" in the British Isles. It spread like wildfire. Almost like off the same mimeograph machine.
