local bishop Robert Morlino of Madison WI trusting Paul as a good lay person in
dealing with the budget in conformity to Catholic teachings despite criticisms
from other Catholic Bishops, liberals, and the inhumanity of The Ryan Budget screwing the poor, elderly and disabled.

Goddess Ayn Rand.
At an Atlas Society meeting celebrating Ayn Rand's life in 2005, Ryan said that "The reason I got involved in public service, by and large, if I had to credit one thinker, one person, it would be Ayn Rand",and "I grew up reading Ayn Rand and it taught me quite a bit about who I am and what my value systems are, and what my beliefs are. It’s inspired me so much that it’s required reading in my office for all my interns and my staff." In response to criticism from Catholic leaders, in 2012 Ryan distanced himself from Rand's Objectivist philosophy, telling National Review, "I reject her philosophy. It's an atheist philosophy. It reduces human interactions down to mere contracts and it is antithetical to my worldview", and noting that his views were more aligned with those of the Roman Catholic philosopher and saint, Thomas Aquinas, than Ayn Rand.

In this strange latter day obese America chowing
down on hate election season, I ran into a modern version of the stations of
the cross so to speak, 24 in total, in the “Passion Series” of New York artist
F. Douglas Blanchard.
This modern Jesus is set against what appears to be
the current high tech fascist state of the new global culture and says so much to me.
The Crucifixion image above struck me with thoughts
of Matthew Shepard and Gay Hate. This, even
if it was not the artist’s original intention.

Madonna Burned in Effigy - Russia - Pussy Riot Blasphemy Trial
Some Orthodox fascist thugs burned Madonna's picture in effigy.
It is always amazing how the "christian" leader always holds the cross with one hand and the torch with another. How do you spell KKK?

Hadrian’s Temple of Roma and Venus in Rome Italy

The Roman emperor Hadrian built the largest temple in Rome dedicated jointly to the goddesses Roma and Venus.

The temples were back to back, under one roof, with the temple
of Roma facing west toward the traditional Roman Forum and the temple of Venus
faced eastward toward the Coliseum.
Hadrian’s windowless temples would seem to have an Egyptian
influence from his travels there and getting people into a spiritual mood
amidst darkness and candlelight. This,
on a raised platform away from the street and foot traffic in the shadow of the
Coliseum.

The image of Venus used in her temple was likely a copy of the
Praxiteles Greek Venus with a Roman hairdo so famous at the time.

The Roma temple end of the complex was built on with a church
of the new Mary, and opposed to the church of the old Mary, its name later
changed to Santa Francesca.
The apse of the Venus temple is still visible to the public, where on Good Friday Easter stories and pageants are presented for the
tourists.

Coliseum in Rome Named after Sun God Colossus Statue of Sol Invictus
The Flavian Amphitheatre, was originally built by the
Flavian dynasty, Vespasian and his son Titus, the general that burned down Jerusalem
in 70 CE.
The Flavian Amphitheatre or the Coliseum in Rome eventually
took on the name of the Colossus of Nero that changed its name and facial image
over many centuries and stood in two different places outside the Coliseum.
Hadrian moved the colossus statue to make way for the
largest temple in Rome dedicated jointed to the goddesses Roma and Venus (roma – amor) built across from the coliseum.
The colossus was renamed in favor of the dominant Roman Sun
god Sol Invictus. Sol Invictus was an
image that the Emperor Constantine used next to his own in coinage implying his
equal status with the sun god.
The giant statue stood anywhere from 90 to 110 (27m to 33m) feet
tall, approximately two-thirds of the height of the coliseum.
The bronze from the statue and most of the marble of the
Coliseum was removed and recycled into the building of Saint Peter’s Basilica
across the river Tiber.

Shards of 911 - Postscript - One Bankers Trust Plaza - 130 Liberty Street NYC
I saw a reminder on some blog last week about the
upcoming eleventh anniversary of the tragedy of September 11, 2001.
It took perhaps longer for me to forget some aspects
of that day having worked across the street from the now defunct old World
Trade Center for many years back in the eighties or thereabouts on a timeline.
The new World Trade Center is rising quite
marvelously, taking its time to change the lower Manhattan skyline.
I call 130 Liberty Street by the title I knew it
back when I worked there – One Bankers Trust Plaza.
The building was the back office of the main office of Bankers Trust Company on Wall Street which I think these days has a health spa in the gilded art deco main banking floor of that building and with I think condos now in old office space. Things change especially in this virtual world. Back offices in general in America these days
are now in India and China courtesy of outsourcing.
That bank eventually went under IMHO starting with the eighties, having put its old fashioned conservative banking sense, along with all its customer good will and corporate nest eggs into the new computer generated crap shoot game derivatives basket. Some German bank bought out
the company in the nineties and what are left of old accounts on digital
records are in that bank’s midtown offices and computer memory.
BT plaza had a nickname of the “BlackWidow” for some
years. She had been wounded in the World
Trade center collapse and wore a dark fabric mesh covering for several years like a widow's veil. But with
insurances companies fighting and lawyers haggling, the building went to seed
or more properly went to mold and the building was condemned, rather than clean
her up and recycle its old function.
No big profit to be had in retrofitting a 1970’s design building. The bureaucrats made a handsome dime taking
nine years and $300 million to tear it down and turn the building into an empty
lot, waiting for some future billion dollar design office building or condos to
stand one day in her old place.
This empty lot BTW is now being used as a staging
area for tourists with tickets, to go across the street to visit the now opened
911 Memorial Fountains.

Postscript:
Without too much sentiment, looking at some of these photos of 911, I am reminded of a line by W.B. Yeats regarding that tragic day and use that poetic line in paraphrase – “A terrible beauty (was) born (on 911)”.

How Many Billions is Mitt Romney Really Worth? – Is he cheating on his tithe to the LDS Church?
If you do not file taxes for ten years and a big thing
about your religion is tithing 10%, then the LDS has to take Mitt’s word how
much he makes and what he says is their 10% of what.
My personal gut reaction to Mitt’s supposed 240
million dollar fortune is like if he is so smart, why has his fortune just
leveled off since he left Bain ten years ago?
How many billions is Mitt really worth?
But the source coming
to Harry Reid for these revelations adds a level of intrigue. Reid just happens
to be the highest-ranking member of the Mormon Church in the history of this
nation.
It is likely that
Senator Reid’s source shares the Mormon religion with Reid and Romney.
That message will not
be lost on Romney. If the Bain fortress is not a fortress; if people are
talking, Romney knows that trouble lies ahead.
And the motivation for
this leak may not be political. It is likely personal and tied to the Mormon
Church.
Specifically, if
Romney was hiding money from the IRS he may have hidden money from his church.
It is expected that
members of the Mormon Church tithe a minimum of ten percent of their incomes.
But if Romney was not paying taxes and hiding money, then his disclosure –
which itemizes deductions, including to the church – would tip off his actual
income to the IRS.
Even more telling,
Senator Reid specifically says that Romney’s father, George, would be ashamed
of his son.

His grandson Clifton Truman Daniel has completed a

during World War II, is in Hiroshima to attend a memorial service for the
victims.

140,000 people killed by the Aug. 6, 1945, bombing authorized by his
grandfather. Another atomic blast in Nagasaki three days later killed 70,000
