I must say, "Cardinal" Chaput is reaching into his bag of tricks and or Box of Cracker Jacks for a prize to Honor the Retired Dr. McCarron whose “call to service” saw the transition from that of a diverse city wide Catholic school system to that of an elitist white GOP Republican Institution in the Suburbs.

Job well done Richard!

What next? Build the new proposed Cathedral in King of Prussia? What’s that you say? There are no plans to move the cathedral to a white neighborhood in Burbia? Well Philly must be the only Catholic Diocese in America without such proposals and architectural plans already in the can. Whatever.

Richard joins the ranks of infamous and fictional characters who have also achieved the rank and title of Knight Commander of the Order of St. Gregory like that of British entertainer Jimmy Savile and more close to home prohibition era thug and bootlegger Nucky Thompson on PBS’s Boardwalk Empire. lol

As the 1990s progressed, McCarron faced another formidable task in his mission to preserve Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.

“The next biggest challenge was the heartache of having to close schools. There are so many close emotional ties to schools, especially in the Delaware Valley and it was a very painful time,” said McCarron.

Cardinal Dolan's tearful good-bye to 26 Catholic schools; Staten Islandschools will learn fate in January

"As much as I enjoyed the Thanksgiving weekend, especially with my mom, brother, sister-in-law, and their three children here with me, I was very preoccupied. 

"Because I knew that Monday would bring very somber news: 26 of our beloved schools could no longer make it, and would be prepared for closing in June after this school year. 

"I dread this! I’d rather be opening new schools, not closing some! Those poor children, teachers, parents, parishes, and high schools! They love their schools! They fight hard to make them work! Some have just settled into these schools after the previous closing of others. This is very sad …" 

 

…In deference to the impact of Hurricane Sandy on Staten Islanders, the archdiocese has delayed until after the first of the year naming any at-risk schools in the borough. But the archdiocese did announce that 26 schools in other boroughs and counties in the archdiocese were slated to be shuttered at the end of this school year. The total number of schools in the archdiocese is 159… 

According to the cardinal, the "good news" is that the "tough decisions" were made after much discussion and input from priests, parents and experts. He claimed that "we did everything we could, with the archdiocese alone investing tens of millions of dollars into the schools," to augment tuition payments and extensive fund-raising efforts from schools and parishes. 

The cardinal said that the schools being closed are all near other Catholic schools that can accommodate displaced students. Those schools, he said, would "welcome every student from a closing school, with counselors from our school office ready to expedite this transfer."

The lying Tims are at it again! Dolan and McNiff knew the names of these schools two years ago when they closed the others. They let this regionalization shame go through so they wouldn't have to be the bad guys. Blame it on the regional boards instead of the most immoral leadership this archdiocese has ever seen. They encouraged families to transfer to schools they knew they would close. They encouraged children to experience this trauma twice in their short lives instead of just once. Shame on them! I bet all of us can name the schools that will now be closed on Staten Island. They are just afraid of the press because of Sandy. Even if SI dodges the bullet this year because of Sandy, I promise next year the "regional board" will announce the names of schools we all know so well and brand them "unsustainable." And this fake of a cardinal and superintendent will "cry tears" like they are doing now. May the holy memory of Cardinal Cooke and Cardinal O'Connor save us from the likes of these bold faced lying frauds!

Cardinal Chaput Offers to Sell His 61 Room Palace in Philly

$200 Million Property - 16 ? Rooms

Cardinal Archbishop Chaput of Philadelphia is threatening to sell his 61 room Mansion at 5700 City Avenue in Philadelphia.  Yeah right.  It is perhaps a sincere for the moment and or a feigned gesture to offset all the pain of school and parish closings coming on the scheduled January 6, 2012 announcement.

The Philadelphia Inquirer misreported the scale and dimensions of this mega mansion that Philadelphia Archbishops have lived in since the 1930s with the infamous Cardinal Dougherty being the first.  Dougherty was the one that staged a successful Catholic boycott of the “Jewish Movie Industry” in the 30's in order to censor every movie produced in Hollywood at the time.  Can’t find a decent photo of him on the net but I believe there is a Thomas Eakins portrait of him in the Philadelphia Museum of Art when he was an ambitious monsignor on the make.  Thomas Eakins portraits did not come cheap back when.  Humble.  Humble. Humble.

Anyway, the Inquirer that these days seems to censor and or clear all its reporting of Cardinal Chaput’s new regime through the Chancery, had posted a niggardly photo, cloaked by massive trees, of the back of the mansion, the servant's wing no doubt, and states that it is 16 rooms (on which floor?).  More like 61 rooms in this “Neverland” fantasy palace for the bishops of Philly.  Cardinal Krol had a three hole golf course on the back part of this 8.7 acre chateau. 

I estimate you could build at least 200 luxury condos on the property at an easy one to two million minimum apiece.  Money, money, money is needed for the tens of millions of dollars going to the lawyers and child abuse settlements and show trials about to begin in the Spring there in Philly. Sell the Prince Crib or close a dozen or two high schools and grade schools? Tuff choice. Whatever.

Cardinal Chaput is only offering to sell the property to offset all the pain the faithful will have to endure on the Feast of the Three Kings January 6. The offer of this property sale and its likely million dollar a year upkeep will be no doubt be forgotten January 7 and misreported and or never again reported in the Philadelphia Inquirer.
