John Jay College – American Bishops Whitewashed Report on Child Abuse

The American Catholic bishops pulled a Bill Donahue of Catholic League fame by moving the goal line and redefining pedophilia as only having to do with children under 10 in this hack academic report out of John Jay College of Whatever Persuasion the winds blows in NYC.

If you control the definitions in any argument, you win the argument. The argument I think here is about common human decency as measured against catholic CEO mismanagement on this whole sex abuse scandal that does not want to go away. The truth could set them free? I don’t think so.

Children aged 10 and over must have wanted to be abused – were consentual ? – in this “blame Woodstock” “blame modernity” whitewash financed by the same American bishops who failed their flocks in this abomination these past decades that has caused so much desolation in the Christian church.

…Researchers at John Jay College of Criminal Justice said most of the abusive priests were ordained in the 1940s and 50s and were not properly trained to confront the social upheavals of the 1960s. 

David O'Brien, a historian of American Catholicism at the University of Dayton, said the report, Causes and Context of Sexual Abuse of Minors by Catholic Priests in the United States, 1950-2010, was dangerous because it seemed to exonerate bishops.


"This recalls an old tabloid banner headline from an early pre-Boston stage of this crisis: 'Bishops Blame Society'," said O'Brien, referring to the sexual abuse scandal in the Archdiocese of Boston in 2002…


…Less than 5% of the abusive priests could be defined as paedophiles because the majority of victims were aged between 11 and 14.


"There's no indication in our data that priests are any more likely to abuse children than anyone else in society," said lead researcher Karen Terry.


But the finding was criticised by victims because the American Psychiatric Association defines paedophilia as an attraction to children aged 13 or younger….


…The Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests dismissed the report as "garbage in, garbage out" because the bishops providing much of the funding for the report.

I am tired of ranting about these failed RC executives who do not even match their original job description. What good are they? Not worth a pile of …. IMHO.

Time for an Intervention in the Church?

Rosanne Barr, a well known comedian, has chimed in on the abuse scandal in the RC Church. She sees a plot against Gays. And a Critical Silence about the numbers in abuse regarding girls.

The RC church’s dictionary definition of pedophiles identifies them as homosexual. It would not be the first time that the church uses scapegoats such as Gays or Jews to get over a rough spot in their mismanagement by the hierarchy.

In a post on her official website, she writes, "The pedo (pedophile) priests are trying to cover up the number of Little Girls they have molested too, as if that doesn't matter as much as what happens to boys. Trust me, the number of girls raped and molested by priests is at least double the boys. They are trying to cover it all up so that they can end up purging gay priests, and laying the blame on them.

"The fact is pedos like to rape both boys and girls, and only a small number of pedos are exclusively into male children.

I am starting to think that any parent who takes their kids to Catholic churches from now on should lose custody.

Taking your kid where you know sex offenders hang out is inexcusable!!!"

Interesting point about the almost seeming silence of abuse about girls.

There is also a very interesting note of non-denial – yes I said non-denial - from a RC archbishop regarding the present crisis in the church.

The image of the Catholic Church

Somewhere between what Rosanne Barr believes and what Archbishop Buti Tlhagale of Johannesburg South Africa has to say and believe – and what you and I believe – I think there is a consensus and forum growing for an Intervention on behalf of the People of God toward the failed management of the RC church.

An intervention is an orchestrated attempt by one, or often many, people (usually family and friends) to get someone to seek professional help with an addiction or some kind of traumatic event or crisis, or other serious problem. Wikipedia

The church needs an Intervention on this matter. The Archbishop has started the process. Maybe it will work it way all the way up from the bottom of the world in South Africa.

The victims have had to deal with this management problem of denial. Denial every step of the way by management along the timeline has brought us to this massive crisis.

It is time for the front office management to own up to poor management past and try to change management style and depth of caring before the company goes under.

Benedict XVI and Second-Hander Clergy

I am a visionary of sorts. I have a passion for looking at many different things. I look for the ways to rearrange the pieces of the puzzle of life into a better fit and or the perfect fit.

In terms of the present moral meltdown and officially sanctioned cover-up of rape and torture of children in the past decades, it is time to stop and realize that an institution that claims to be founded by God – that God has apparently been absent for long periods of time since the beginning of this particular church.

That the chaos of wars in Europe from Napoleon to Hitler in World Wars and tens of millions of deaths start with the collapse of the corrupt French monarchy around 1789 and propped up by the corrupt Roman Catholic Church. The Church of Bling, not the church of God, saw fit to bless and sanction cake and pastries on the fat King’s plate while the peasants starved outside the palace gates.

I love the French. Their arrogance and their anti-clerical atheistic attitude is a breath of fresh air after living a life in America with the holier than thou Cardinal Spellmans and Cardinal Codys and their boyfriends and mistresses. And all under the cover of celibacy which is of course not the problem in this global sex abuse scandal in America and Europe as stated by paid church apologists.

I am sorry that we have not heard from Latin America, Africa and Asia where there is little free press, unseen and unheard at present, from those other tens of thousands of victims screaming to heaven for justice.

And then there is the whole of the last forty years of Born Again Bling by Swaggard, Jim and Tammy, Richard Roberts, Pat Robertson, Falwell and dozens of other absolute worshippers of the Pope Bling CEO style mismanagement and misperception of the needs of humanity. Management first, people last and children don’t count. That is not Jesus!

The smug German pope sat on his throne on Sunday, Easter Sunday, and listened to an equally smug Cardinal Sodano state that the faithful are not affected by petty gossip.

Where is the petty gossip? We are talking conspiracy, crimes against humanity, not petty gossip you asshole in a red silk gown that costs enough to feed a village in Africa for months. Where is your perspective and your humanity?

If I address humanity and with an empathy for humanity then I must be a humanist and that is a dirty word in the Roman church. Traditions counts first and foremost. People can apparently go ---- themselves.

A so-called institution of God goes ape shit crazy and corrupt and then the human race has to clean up the mess. The rise of Napoleon after the fall of the corrupt church/monarchy shaped European history in the nineteenth century. The corrupt Russian church/monarchy and its ensuing revolution dictated the course of 20th century politics and brinksmanship. And then there is Mexico in the twenties etc. and on and on.

This is not an institution of God but of corrupt men. Let’s have a going out of business sale once and for all. Let’s just put the Vatican and its contents up for sale at Christie s. That is the best humanist thing to do for humanity.

Let’s stop giving a bunch of third rate “second handers”* another chance to hurt and cause so much pain in body, mind and spirit in the future.

As a visionary I connect the dots and I now quote from a comment on Ayn Rand’s concept of the mediocrity - presently in the Vatican and American Business as well. She seems to have perfectly fitted and predicted this present situation and business management cancer in the Roman Catholic Clergy.

* Second-Handers

When you suspend your faculty of independent judgment, you suspend consciousness. To stop consciousness is to stop life. Second-handers have no sense of reality. Their reality is not within them, but somewhere in that space which divides one human body from another. Not an entity, but a relation—anchored to nothing. That’s the emptiness I couldn’t understand in people.

That’s what stopped me whenever I faced a committee. Men without an ego. Opinion without a rational process. Motion without brakes or motor. Power without responsibility. The second-hander acts, but the source of his actions is scattered in every other living person. It’s everywhere and nowhere and you can’t reason with him. He’s not open to reason.
