Dysfunctionality of the Pro-Life Idiom – Jesus would cheer Gaddafi’s death

Gaddafi got better than he deserved, better than he gave Flight 103 and Lockerbie.  If anything, I am disappointed that Libya doesn’t have the infrastructure, the slaughter houses and the meat hooks, to have given Mommar the “Full Benito” that Mussolini got in his just demise.

Is celebrating the death of a monster against life, common morality and or the cliche quasi-political, quasi-religious term Pro-Life?

I do not know what pro-life means anymore. It has become a Madison Avenue Roger Ailes jingoism to sell soap or church agenda.

From a once distant now moral view, the term Pro-Life as a hard sell came in the sixties when all birth control became the automatic equal of abortion – a flawed equation.  Have known a couple of women and a guy over the years who were involved in the abortion thing, some for medical reasons, some for personal.  They all had regrets.  Perhaps that is as it should be. The possibilities of life are a theoretical wonder to behold.  The average person does what is right  for themselves and does not need a theologian to render opinion anymore.

My last official religious affiliation was Lutheran.  When they murdered Doctor Tiller in a church says it all to me about the hole in the donut of the morality of abortionist hunters. A half a dozen protectors, enablers of Tiller’s murderer did not get indicted with him.  They are somehow funded by the new Gray Water moral area of funding from political and or quasi-political cash funding.  Tax free and on the government’s indirect dime.

Pro-Life was used as a religious mask to carry out a political agenda - a political murder, an organized hit paid for by the growing very profitable Pro-Life crime racket, to strike fear in the heartland to any woman who wanted or needed a serious medical procedure done for whatever reason.

The greed that turns all aspects of life into a commodity, even education, is in fact the reason why there is no real morality left in our society on many levels.  When people become commodities, their value is decided in the market place and not in any ancient book or even in their true hearts.

Me, we, us the society has become totally dysfunctional on some level and always I think related to the gelt factor.  The old fashioned American town square has disappeared and its virtual equivalent does not match the challenge or satisfy us.  That is what Occupy Wall Street is all about but they haven’t yet put it into words or understanding. They may never get there.

The point is and I repeat it – I don’t know what pro-life means.  I am being honest.

If Jesus was worth his salt and I think he was, I can fully imagine him cheering and dancing in the streets if a scumbag like Governor Pilate got his just desserts at the hands of a crowd like Colonel Gaddafi.

And then on second thought, maybe Jesus would not dance.

Sometimes.  To be fully human is to be fully divine.  It’s in the program I think from the Creator.

Whatever.

God is God is God

No matter what you name it or how you perceive it, God is God.

Speaking to an old friend, who had been in the hospital some time ago - She related the story about how some of her friends wanted to have their elders or ministers bless her in the hospital room.

Sounds innocent enough but first came blessings from Mormons, then from a Lutheran minister and finally from the Catholics. One nurse saw this and wondered why and how so many blessings from different groups.

Why was answered with the response about not wanting to disappoint friends and their good intentions.

How was answered with words that no matter what or how you call it – “God is God is God”.

Marriage is Union - Father Wuerl

Did Jesus piss on lepers? No. He embraced them with love and the Holy Spirit.

The mean spirited fundamentalist Sharia RC hierarchy in Washington D.C. is threatening to toss out the homeless onto the streets out of their temporary shelters. How Christian of them!

They in essence want to pull some morality clause in their contract with the city to take money for administering certain charity functions. They are in essence saying that the city government, with recognition of same sex marriages from other states, is not somebody with whom they want to do business with.

They are threatening to toss the poor if the city government continues to recognize any same-sex marriage as valid - if it was performed in any U.S. State that gives it recognition.

The District of Columbia with the federal city of Washington within is that unrepresented place for its permanent citizens and being the one last Slave like Territory left in the Untied States. (most of its citizens are black and without rights if you count representation as a right and or entitlement)

The Washington City Council did the one practical thing a territorial government would do. It decided last May to do what would be a diplomatic solution regarding Same-Sex Unions of people newly arrived or already a resident. They recognized legalized same-sex marriages from other nearby countries – The States. Not good enough for the Catholic Sharia!!!

The Sharia wants a ballot initiative in an election and with backing of millions of dollars of the political/religionist conservatives. PR companies make a lot of money lately off of what is basically hate.

The ballot initiative would basically define Marriage as between one man and one woman.

I hate to get technical here seeing that I don’t have a Doctor of Divinity and all that. Even when I was a RC, marriage was defined as a sacrament and contracted between the two parties making the marriage.

When I was active as a Lutheran Catholic, Marriage was not considered a sacrament. The Lutherans only define Baptism and the Lord’s Supper as sacraments as defined or found in the words, documentation of the New Testament. Even then, the Lutherans still considered marriage as between the two contracting parties. The minister only officiates as a couple declare vows to one another.

Marriage is a Union of two people, two souls joining together in body and spirit and agreeing to be faithful to one another until death. That is my definition of marriage.

Why all the Stalinist micromanaging of what goes on in somebody’s bedroom Father Wuerl? I think that the hierarchy of the RC church should be the last persons on earth to define marriage based on sexuality considering the very closeted nature of their own (?) sexuality.

This non-stop far right coup-attempting to control the mind of mankind - to get everybody to memorize and quote exactly from the little red book of fundamentalist sharia bullshit – it is getting old – very old.

If the Archdiocese does not want charity handouts from government – then get out of the people business.

How do you define people? I don’t know. Let’s hire some PR firms, form political actions committees, put an initiative on the ballot and most importantly of all - ship in some suitcases of cash from Rome and Tulsa!!!

Community Christian Capitalism at work

I have been watching a travel show on PBS for years and hosted by Rick Steves.

I ran into his bio on Wikipedia and I was just floored by one item listed there at the bottom.

The simplicity of the idea and the scope and depth of an idea of how someone could use their retirement funds as a relatively safe, conservative way to serve mankind, the community and in the spirit of the Christ. I am dumbfounded sometimes by creativity or the random acts of seeming kindness I sometimes run into in this world.

The idea is simple. You get a lot of volunteer organizations like the YMCA and Rotary Club involved to house homeless mothers. Your initial investment is the investment of your retirement fund to buy an apartment building. You are not giving it away. You are leasing it to a community need for a decade or two. With insurance and maintenance your investment is tangible and safe.

You give a pathway for a flow of semi-charitable good works and outside the realm of direct organized religion or government. Religions have a tendency to become bureaucratic and sad to say in some instances corrupt in the distribution of alms and charity to people. Government is government.

Why not do charity and or good works on your own and after fifteen or twenty years take back your investment plus accumulated unearned equity. I do not want to put a label on this such as passive good works or compassionate brotherhood. Compassionate conservatism as a term in the secular sense has perhaps failed terribly and gotten us into two wars overseas.

In 2005 Rick and Anne Steves purchased a 24-unit apartment complex in Lynnwood, Washington and fixed it up to serve as transitional housing for homeless mothers and their children. The Steves invested much of their retirement nest egg and are allowing free use of the complex for 15 years--leaving management responsibilities to the local YWCA Pathways for Women, while Rotarians in the Edmonds Noontime Rotary Club help maintain the buildings, do grounds upkeep, and provide everything from the furniture to the flowers. In addition, the club raised USD $30,000 in donations to build a play structure for the children of Trinity Place. About 100 mothers are expected to ultimately live there.

Steves is an active Lutheran, and has written and hosted educational videos on subjects such as Martin Lutheran and the European Reformation of the Church. He also raises funds for Bread for the World. -- Wikipedia

Think of all the secular no-religion Americans who have seen their 401ks shrink and pension funds evaporate. Think of the bemoaning of “my individual piece” of Wall Street melting away.

Think of all the mutual funds invested in China and Aluminum mines with people making slave wages. Think of the returns on investment of China put into U.S. Treasury notes to feed our national debt and our insatiable godless consumerism. Think of a China that individually dominates or dictates out national policies, really a country we are afraid to challenge at the moment. Think of a godless China that sits on the United Nations Security Council that will veto any humane actions on Darfur to protect its very real national investments in Sudan.

Think how we as individuals do not have to invest in some godless macro Wall Street ponzi schemes in the future. Think about taking the time out to touch and research the needs of your community. Think about investing your money, your nest egg, in the future of the welfare and best interests of your community.

Think of what Jesus would do with your investments.

While you would like to give away everything to the poor, why not just share with them for a while and make the world a tiny bit better. The world is better because you touched the world and the world seems to matter right in front of your eyes.

I would label this as Community Christian Capitalism because it is capitalism. It also serves the community. It most definitely has a Christian flavor.

You are making a cash investment to get back a cash return. Instead of instant millions in immediate return, you get a safe old fashioned rate of return on cash investment which also serves the needs of the community. There is something about this scheme that touches upon the things missing today in over-organized religion or failed government. It has to do with people and community needs and meeting the needs of the less fortunate in a humane and dignified manner. Churches and religions used to touch the earth and communities.

In an abstract dominant secular world “we have to touch people” again. We need to serve others in order to serve our own spiritual selves and needs. This is humanity. This is Christ!
