Un-Christian Chickens in Canada - Beware!

I am not quite certan what to make of this story about alledged “unchristian” chicken farming in New Brunswick, Ontario Canada.

Monks accused of 'unchristian' farming
The animal-rights group PETA, which earlier prompted monks at a U.S. abbey to quit raising chickens, is hoping scripture, moral suasion and the words of Pope Benedict XVI will spark change at Our Lady of Calvary Abbey in Rogersville, N.B.

"It denies God to treat animals this way," PETA's Bruce Friedrich said yesterday. "It's standard factory farming. They are denying these animals everything God designed them to be and to do."

He added that the monks' argument that they "carefully follow government norms" carries little weight.

"The monastery should not hide behind human laws, they should do what is morally right," Mr. Friedrich said. "Cruelty to animals is not just immoral, it's unchristian."
And of course a quote from Joe The Pope when he was Joe the Cardinal in 2002:
...decrying industrial production methods that turn geese and hens into "just caricatures" of birds. "This degrading of living creatures to a commodity seems to me in fact to contradict the relationship of mutuality that comes across in the Bible,"
A true scholar!

There is PC political correctness and there is PC to the extreme of the animal rights people - and then there is “unapproved, unregistered with the Vatican” chicken soup for the soul?

Give me a break.
