Wayne Thiebaud - Cupcake (poem) - Hide and Seek*

Hide and Seek

There is a pretty in you
I can measure when it’s out
You wrap it in a whisper
But it comes out as a shout.

There is no way to love it
Is gift-wrapped in a she
Pulsing up and down yourself
For worlds of eyes to see.

It bounds around your person
Always hidden in your smile.
And although I cannot touch it
I may eat it with a smile.
