George Washington and Emoluments 1796

The London Times (1796) - his Royal Ambassador to the Yankee Republic did attend a private sale of horses from President Washington's plantation in Virginia in Philadelphia near the western river there. Private by invitation and admission price from the general public. That it was remarked by the French and Spanish ambassadors in attendance near his Royal Ambassador was the remark of the refusal at the gate of all admissions fees for foreign ambassadors as the horses were owned by General Washington and their constitution refuses him the right to foreign monies of any like kind.
