Congressman Patrick Kennedy is now being asked to screw the 36% of Rhode Islanders that he represents, who are not Catholic, over Catholic Sharia Law about Abortion.
The War on Women and their vaginas continues with this latest assault from Bishop Thomas Tobin of Rhode Island who is drooling to get his red hat over this public fight in the middle of the Health Care Reform debate.
Tobin is refusing Holy Communion to Kennedy in his bailiwick over his beliefs that women should choose their own destiny over their own body.
Congressman Kennedy picked the wrong Bishop to mess with
“Congressman Kennedy, I write these words not to embarrass you or to judge the state of your conscience or soul. That’s ultimately between you and God. But your description of your relationship with the Church is now a matter of public record, and it needs to be challenged. I invite you, as your bishop and brother in Christ, to enter into a sincere process of discernment, conversion and repentance. It’s not too late for you to repair your relationship with the Church, redeem your public image, and emerge as an authentic “profile in courage,” especially by defending the sanctity of human life for all people, including unborn children. And if I can ever be of assistance as you travel the road of faith, I would be honored and happy to do so."Saint Thomas More, ex-Lord Chancellor of England, could not in conscience, follow the reckless path of the glutton Monarch Henry VIII.
(comment) Next step: official censure or excommunication. Rep. Kennedy has now been publicly rebuked and invited to convert and offer repentance.
Refusing to sign an oath that would have gone against his conscience, he lost his head on the chopping block.
The main foundation of this nation, the United States, of people once persecuted in England and Europe over religious scruples, is not to have to bow down and abide with the unreasonable demands of petty tyrants over matters of conscience. That was what the Protestant Reformation was about – and also the escape to freedom in America - over matters of Conscience.
Today is the tyranny of Bishop Tobin demanding that the continuing RC War On Women (WOW) be carried out blindly by U.S. Congressman Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island.
If Kennedy follows the religious bigotry of Bishop Tobin and complies with Catholic Sharia Law, Kennedy and all good Catholic Politicians must resign.
No man can serve two masters. No man can half represent, serve all the people, in his district in matters of public policy over the priority of mere private religious beliefs.
I am a choose to be a devout Catholic but I didn't have the choice of not being born a woman. With that said, I believe a woman has the right over her body and what she does in respect to abortion is between her and her God.
ReplyDeleteI am not attacking anybody's right to believe. I am angered by the un-christian, hypocritical and political tone of some religious leaders these days.
ReplyDeleteThe clergy seem determined to create a situation where it's impossible for any one person to both be acceptably Catholic and serve as a member of the government at the same time. Carrying out the duties of the latter in the way a secular political system requires would be incompatible with the former.
ReplyDeleteCarrying this to its logical conclusion, any Catholic they accept as a proper Catholic would be driven from office.
Of course, what they actually want is to see officials of the secular government voting in accordance with the taboos and prescriptions of the Vatican. The last time the Pope had such supremacy over secular governments, it was called the Dark Ages.
To what lengths will they go to get that coveted red hat and dress? Pathetic human beings and Joe the Pope sanctions all this crap in the name of God. Dark Ages is about right!
ReplyDeleteGood, the Bishops are finally standing up to the scandalous public anti-life record of Mr. Kennedy. The Bishops have every right to express their views in the public forum. Kennedy and other Catholics who continue to promote abortion are Catholic in name only.
ReplyDeleteThis is only about whether the fetus is a human person. The Church answers in the affirmative. If one believes that the fetus is a human person, this has nothing to due with the "rights of a woman's body", it has to do with the "rights of a human PERSON", the unborn person. The debate over slavery was a debate over personhood. If African American slaves were persons, no other persons could claim them as property or deny them liberty. They were persons in their own right, with their own rights. And just as the fight of the abolishonists, if the unborn are human persons, they also have inalienable rights. And the Church will fight for their personhood and rights, and that includes the political realm.
How did you find this blog Peter? Why would you come here to spew your personal political views when you know we can feel the hate rising off the page? You have no power here..just like Glenda told the wicked witch of the East. Be gone before someone drops a house..on you!
ReplyDelete"..just like Glenda told the wicked witch of the East. Be gone before someone drops a house..on you!"
ReplyDeleteThis is the hateful commentary I see all over this site. Crow about tolerance all you like, the above comment is a case in point of profound intolerance of one whose views differ from your own.
Can you point to one comment of mine where I have demonized another person? Point to comments that cause hate to come of the page. Please.
You'll win no converts here. The rhetoric is old and tired. We have moved on and you are but a ghost of the past. Guess you don't appreciate satire either. Nothing personal..it's just business.
ReplyDeleteNo problem. I just don't see any major difference from the left when compared to the right. The left participates in as much demonization as the right, and are certainly just as intolerant.
ReplyDeleteIn my way of thinking, this story broke on Nov 22 the anniversary of the JFK's assasination. Patrick is no doubt aware of the harassment his father took from mediocre RC clerics who want money and power and want everybody to believe as they do on the anti-female stance of Abortion. Read Humane Vitae - it is a Rube Goldberg contrivance trying to sound like it knows what human sexuality is about and it falls way too short of the mark-
ReplyDeleteI cannot speak for Patrick Kennedy but if he wants to make this fight public with a petty third rate RC cleric - good - it time for debate and opinion - and not just shut up or we will excommunicate you!
If one believes that the fetus is a human person, this has nothing to due with the "rights of a woman's body", it has to do with the "rights of a human PERSON", the unborn person.
ReplyDeleteEven if one considers a fetus to be a person -- which is self-evidently absurd -- there is no intrinsic right for one "person" to inhabit and use the body of another person without the consent of the latter.
This is all about sexually-twisted control freaks exerting power over other people's reproductive behavior in the name of Bronze-Age taboos. Fetus fetishism is just a pretext.
The Bishops have every right to express their views in the public forum.
And others have every right to point out the hypocrisy and likely consequences.
